Financial Power of Attorney
A Power of Attorney is a document that allows you to designate someone to make financial and other decisions on you behalf. A Financial Power of Attorney can remain in effect while you become incapacitated, known as a Durable Power of Attorney. A durable power of attorney may make it unnecessary to appoint a conservator to take charge of your estate and thus avoid court involvement in sensitive family affairs. Conservatorships are generally cumbersome and costly arrangements. You give your agent or Attorney-in-Fact as general or specific powers as you choose.
